What it's all about: Video from previous years
Lap-a-thon/Lap
Sponsors: Lap Sponsor Form
As many of you know Spina Bifida is a lifelong ailment. It affects not only those born with Spina Bifida, but their families as well.
Think of it this way: if your doctor prescribes an expensive antibiotic for an infection you have developed, and you need to refill this prescription twice and see your doctor again, even with insurance it’s not going to be cheap. Without it, you may only be able to afford one refill. Imagine not having insurance and needing the refill for your entire life.
All the money raised by the Jacksonville Grand Prix goes to local families to assist them with their everyday needs. Like every other needy charity, there is never enough to go around.
We added a lap sponsorship contest rather late last year. The girls a.k.a. "Chickanes" raised an additional $3,500.
The rules are simple. For fairness, every team completes 350 laps. The team that raises the most money per lap or raises the most money though associate support, wins the contest.
The wining team wins Super tickets for the team, which include two VIP tickets and two rooms for two nights at the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in October 2008.
You can submit your pledge cards April 5, and your team has until April 30, 2008, to pay the pledges.
Lap sponsors are everywhere: tire companies, your local tavern, the office or even the service department that values your business when that overpriced performance car you bought is out of warranty.
If you are inclined to participate, please turn in your pledge card April 4 or April 5. Pledge card can be turned into Maria with Spina Bifida or Karen Schwartz with Endurance Karting. Winner will be announced at the awards ceremony for the 6 Hour Race on April 5.
